Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Deborah Ghent-Vicaro brings over two decades of courtroom and legal administration experience to the Law Offices of Jake Erwin. From managing trial dockets to guiding clients through difficult moments, Deborah is the steady hand behind the scenes who keeps it all moving forward.
Deborah Ghent has been a dedicated part of South Carolina’s legal system for over 20 years. She began her career with the Greenville Municipal Court in 2003, serving in several key roles including Assistant Clerk of Court, Jury Trial Clerk, Bench Trial Clerk, and Preliminary Hearing Clerk. Her work provided firsthand insight into the courtroom process and set the foundation for her deep understanding of case management and trial procedure.
In 2008, Deborah joined the 13th Circuit Public Defender’s Office, where she served until 2022. As Manager of Administrative Services, she oversaw operations for more than 100 employees across three divisions—including Greenville and Pickens County criminal courts and the juvenile division. She also worked closely as a paralegal to two Circuit Defenders, supporting complex criminal defense cases with precision and professionalism.
Deborah has been with the Law Offices of Jake Erwin since 2022, where she continues to support both attorneys and clients as a paralegal and administrative assistant. Known for her empathy, organization, and unshakable reliability, she plays a vital role in every case that comes through the firm’s doors.
Outside of work, Deborah enjoys spending time with her sons, hanging out with her dog Vinnie, hand embroidery, and getting lost in a good book. With a family legacy of public service—including a Navy physician grandfather and a father who served as a state attorney for Spartanburg and Greenville counties—Deborah understands what it means to show up for people. And she brings that same dedication to every client, every day.
